Where it Began
Meet Halle Porter! Halle is the youngest child of Eric and Trisha Porter, founders of Backyard Orphans. Halle has a God-sized dream to see every child in U.S. foster care impacted by the loving hands and feet of Jesus. This dream was sparked in her heart at 6 years old when she coordinated a large donation of Barbie dolls for young girls in foster care. That spark has now become a flame and Halle has a vision to see girls and boys across the nation receive clothing, shoes, food, and more! She wants all children to know they are seen, cared for, and loved by their Heavenly Father!
The Why
When we help meet the physical needs of children in foster care, it is a reflection of God’s loving and compassionate nature toward us all. Just like how God takes care of us, providing things such as clothing and shoes for vulnerable kiddos shows how faithful and caring He is, even in the tiniest details. By lending a helping hand and making sure these children are taken care of, we can remind them that they are cherished, valued, and never alone.
