Speak up
Proverbs 31:8-9 encourages us to pray for, preach about, or advocate for children, youth, and families in foster care.

Another way to get involved at level one is to be a part of Orphan Sunday or Stand Sunday on the 2nd Sunday of November.
LEVEL 2
Meet physical needs
Your church can start with simple ways to support families in foster care with things such as beds, clothing, or meals.

Provide relational support
Your church can walk alongside foster families by mentoring, babysitting, transportation, or training.

Recruit families
There are over 400,000 children in United States foster care. 100,000 of those children are ready for adoption today! Some of those children are being placed in neglectful or abusive homes and some of them are even staying in hotel rooms because there are not enough families. Psalm 68:5-6 says that God is the Father to the fatherless and he puts the lonely in families. Children need families! Our team at Backyard Orphans guides church leaders in recruiting foster and adoptive families to help hurting children find hope and healing. If every church were to annually recruit and support families to foster or adopt, there would be no children waiting on families.
