Strengthening Churches in Guatemala

For more than 13 years, our partnership with The James Project has been rooted in a shared commitment to see hurting children placed in families, not lost to the streets or institutions. This year marked our sixth trip together, and each visit expands our impact. The needs in Guatemala remain significant, but the strengthening of local churches is making a difference! What we see again and again is that when churches are equipped, they are ready to step into the call to care for vulnerable children in meaningful, lasting ways.

During this trip, two distinct but connected ministry tracks unfolded. The first focused on equipping The James Project staff through a series of trainings designed to strengthen how they engage, equip, and empower pastors from their own backyard to step into orphan care. Our team had the honor of sharing behind-the-scenes systems and relational practices that help pastors feel seen, supported, and invited into deeper involvement. The response from their team was both humbling and encouraging. There was genuine excitement and hunger to grow in how they serve and mobilize local churches!

Alongside this training work, our family had the privilege of serving directly within the community. We visited local markets to purchase and deliver food to single mothers as part of a family preservation effort (support that can make the difference between a child remaining safely at home or ending up on the streets). Being in Guatemala over Palm Sunday was especially meaningful, as our entire family was able to share during the service, encouraging children with the truth that they are chosen, loved, and seen by God. Moments like these remind us why this work matters!

Because of your faithful partnership, the Church in Guatemala is being equipped to reach more families, and even more hurting children are finding healing homes!
