When Dr. Pastor Bob Griffith’s wife first brought up the idea of foster care, his response was short and honest: “Nope.”
But as time passed and prayers were prayed, that no began to crack. A meeting with Health and Human Services opened his eyes to a deeper need. “The community’s cry for help changed my heart,” Bob remembers. And just like that, the reluctant no turned into a life-altering yes—for him, his family, and eventually, his entire church.
Their journey started with a private adoption of their son, Mark, over a decade ago. That one step of faith soon led to fostering—and not just once. They fostered three children and, after a series of unmistakable God moments, adopted them all. “We said no at first,” Bob admits. “But after I prayed for clarity, I got seven confirmations in 24 hours. We sold our house and bought a bigger one the same day. God made the path clear.”
The road that followed wasn’t smooth. There were health challenges, long nights, and moments that pushed them to the edge. But there were also miracles. “He healed, He provided, and He promoted,” Bob says, thinking back to the moment they were invited to the White House—a signpost of how far their kids had come. “From brokenness to a place of honor.”Foster care didn’t just shape their adopted children—it transformed their whole family. Bob speaks with admiration for his biological children, who chose sacrifice over comfort. “They saw the heart of God up close. They gave up space and privacy, but gained purpose.”
